PROG. INFO.- Training Workshop on Statistical Methods, Baku, Oct. 26-27

Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC)–Azerbaijan, a Program of the
Eurasia Foundation invites applications to participate in a training
workshop "Foundations of quantitative analysis: Basic Descriptive
Statistical Methods" conducted by Mr. Gursel Aliyev, a lecturer at
Khazar University and Economic and Social Policy Specialist at
UNICEF-Azerbaijan.

The format of the training is: intensive online preparation and
readings followed by two 3-hour live interactive sessions on October
26-27 followed by online forum and tests. Participants are going to
learn by doing exercises. The data used in the exercises will be
taken from an actual survey database (CRRC Household Survey 2006).

Mr. Gursel Aliyev teaches Business Statistics at Khazar University and
Economic and Social Policy Specialist at UNICEF-Azerbaijan. He holds
an MA in Economics from Northeastern University in Boston, USA. He
has previously worked on several World Bank, ADB, USAID projects which
involved a great deal of statistical and econometric analysis.

The workshop is open for policy researchers, policy practitioners and
academics who are interested in acquiring practical skills in
quantitative analysis; have academic background in economics,
sociology, political science or closely related discipline; possess
good knowledge of English and are able to demonstrate internet literacy.

Time and place of event:

October 26-27, 2007, 15:00 – 18:00 at CRRC-Azerbaijan, Caspian Plaza,
44 J. Jabbarly Street, 7th Floor. The workshop will be conducted in
English. Interested individuals should send their CV and a motivation
letter of no more than 150 words to Ms. Rena Rzayeva at rena@crrc.az
until 17:00 on October 15, 2007.
