Graduate and Post-doctoral Fellowships in Armenian Studies
at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

The Armenian Studies Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor,
is pleased to announce the establishment of five new fellowships in
Armenian studies beginning in the academic year 2008-2009.

These new fellowships, made possible by a generous gift from the
Manoogian Simone Foundation and to be known as "Manoogian Simone
Foundation Fellows," will comprise any combination of Graduate studies
and post-doctoral positions at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Two of the positions have been designated for graduate school and/or
post-doctoral applicants from institutions of higher education in Armenia.

Manoogian Simone Foundation Graduate Fellowships

The thrust of the research interests of candidates for these graduate
fellowships must be in Armenian studies. Candidates must first apply
to and be accepted in
(a) the Ph.D. program in the Department of History or the Department
of Near Eastern Studies, or
(b) the Master's Program at the Center for Russian and East European
Studies or Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies.

The fellowships will cover full tuition and grad-care as well as
stipends to awardees.

Applications for graduate studies at the University of Michigan are
submitted through the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies.
They must be submitted online at the website of Rackham Graduate
School, www.rackham.umich.edu.

Deadlines for applications are as follows:

History Department: December 1, 2007
Near Eastern Studies: December 14, 2007
Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies (CMENAS): January 15, 2008
Center for Russian and East European Studies (CREES): February 1, 2008

The final selection of Manoogian Simone Foundation Graduate Fellows
will be made by the Armenian Studies Program faculty upon the
recommendation of these Departments and Centers.


Manoogian Simone Foundation Post-doctoral Fellowships

Manoogian Simone Post-doctoral Fellowships will be awarded for one
academic year to recent graduates whose dissertations are closely
related to Armenian studies.

Applications (CV, copy of dissertation, statement regarding proposed
research, and courses the applicant may be asked to teach) should be
forwarded directly to:
