The Department of Sociology of the American University of Central Asia
(AUCA) is looking to fill a teaching position to start in Fall 2009.
Applicants should meet the following qualifications:

* MA, PhD degree in Sociology or related areas
* University teaching experience in English
* Commitment to the position for at least two years

The ideal applicant will be able to offer required undergraduate
courses as well as advanced undergraduate courses in her/his area of
special interest. Responsibilities will include teaching, advising and
mentoring students, and participating in departmental and university
service activities.

Preferences will be given to candidates whose special interests
involve Central Asia and/or post-Soviet countries and areas of
specialization include some of the following:

Introduction to Sociology, State and Society, Market Society,
Sociology of Religion, Sociology of Conflict, Cultural and Moral
Economy, Philosophy of Social Research, Comparative Sociology,
Identity and Differences, Urban Sociology

Department of Sociology is a degree-granting program at AUCA educating
nearly 80 students in all years; it graduated nearly 200 students
since 2001. A third of our graduates continued to further their
education in universities worldwide. The program provides students
with a solid foundation in sociological theory and research to prepare
students for work in variety of academic and professional careers.
