The Hamad bin Khalifa Travel Fellowship

The Hamad bin Khalifa Travel Fellowship provides financial support to
15 individuals who wish to attend the Third Biennial Hamad bin Khalifa
Symposium on Islamic Art, And Diverse Are Their Hues: Color in Islamic
Art and Culture, to be held in Córdoba, Spain, November 2-4, 2009.
The fellowships (made possible with funding from the Qatar Foundation)
will cover the cost of round-trip travel to Córdoba as well as lodging
and meals during the Symposium. Fellows will also be invited to
attend special events such as receptions and excursions, will be
awarded a Hamad bin Khalifa Fellowship certificate, and will receive
copies of the proceedings of the Second Biennial Symposium, Rivers of
Paradise: Water in Islamic Art and Culture, held in 2007, and the
Third Biennial Symposium, held in Córdoba.

Criteria

The Hamad bin Khalifa fellowships are intended to enable junior and
senior scholars at all levels to attend the Symposium. Preference
will be given to applicants from diverse backgrounds with
long-standing research interests in Islamic art and architecture.
Individuals who have applied previously or have submitted papers in
the past are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply

Interested candidates must submit a completed application form online,
available at www.islamicartdoha.org . Completed applications must be
received by February 1, 2009 - any applications received after
February 1, 2009 will not be considered. Only electronic submissions
will be accepted. Applicants will be notified of decisions by May 1, 2009.
