A Public Lecture "International Careers in Perspective" with Roxanna Shapour

Speaker: Roxanna Shapour
Roxanna Shapour is an information and communications specialist in complex
emergencies and developing countries. She has served in UN agencies,
international organizations, and NGOs as a press and media professional, a
trainer, and communications advisor in various countries. Most recently she
finished a 2-year assignment in Afghanistan and currently she works for BBC
Monitoring as a journalist and trainer.

Abstract of the Presentation
A career in the international realm has always held much mystic and allure.
But what are the hidden costs and sacrifices left out of the film-star image
that we have of working for intergovernmental or international
organizations? These issues, as well as practical advice on CVs,
applications, and other important career development advice, will be
discussed during this presentation.
