Cultural Anthropologist
Special Faculty Lecturer in Anthropology

The Department of Geography and Anthropology at Eastern Washington
University, a comprehensive regional university, is seeking a cultural
anthropologist appointment at the Lecturer level beginning Fall
Quarter 2008. This appointment may be available for a second year.

EWU has a four-field department offering a major and minor in
anthropology. Our emphasis is on undergraduate education and
providing a strong basic coverage of the discipline. While we
participate in an interdisciplinary M.A. program, we also prepare
students for doctoral studies elsewhere. Our program is also
extensively involved in teaching anthropology upper division courses
to meet all-university requirements in international studies and
cultural diversity. The normal teaching load for this position is nine
full courses over three quarters.

Ph.D. is preferred, ABD or Master's with experience will be considered
for this appointment. Preferred area specialty is Asia; other Old
World areas will be considered. Preference given to candidates with
experience teaching at both the introductory and upper division
levels, who are able to teach a fairly broad range of undergraduate
cultural anthropology courses, and who can teach an Asian survey
course, an introductory level course in linguistics, and a survey in
anthropology of religion, for example.
